Drake Bell, best known for his role in the popular television series Drake & Josh, has spoken out in a new documentary about his alleged sexual abuse as a child actor. The documentary, titled Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV, delves into the conditions of shows created by Nickelodeon in the ’90s and early 2000s, specifically focusing on the alleged abuse by dialogue coach Brian Peck, who worked on shows created by Dan Schneider.

Disturbing Allegations

In his interview for Quiet on Set, Bell reveals that Peck allegedly abused him when he was just 15 years old. The timeline coincides with Bell’s stint on The Amanda Show, where Peck was involved. Peck, who was arrested in 2003 and pleaded no contest to performing lewd acts with a minor, was ultimately convicted, sentenced to prison, and registered as a sex offender.

Bell’s Troubled Life

Bell has faced numerous difficulties in recent years. In 2023, he was briefly reported missing, causing concerns for his wellbeing. Previous legal troubles include a guilty plea for attempted child endangerment and inappropriate communications with a minor. He has also faced allegations of abuse by his ex-girlfriend.

A Stirring Documentary

Scheduled for release on March 17 and 18, Quiet on Set promises further insight into the experiences of other former child stars and crew members. Notably, actors from Boy Meets World, including Rider Strong, Will Friedle, and Danielle Fishel, were approached for interviews but chose to address their history with Peck on their podcast instead. The intertwined relationships between Peck and the younger actors on the show create an uncomfortable dynamic that is explored in the documentary.

Unanswered Questions

Fishel speculates that concerns about Peck’s sexuality may have suppressed questioning of inappropriate relationships on set. According to her, there was a hesitancy to address the issue, fearing it might be perceived as homophobia instead of a violation of boundaries between adults and children.

Reflecting on the Past

Friedle and Strong, who were supportive of Peck during his legal case, have since reconsidered their actions. The weight of their defense and realization of the pain inflicted on the victim led them to a deep sense of regret.
