The surface of the Dragonerstrasse in Lenzburg has reached the end of its service life. The residents’ council is discussing a loan of CHF 375,000 for the renewal. It is already the third stage.

The residential area has grown, traffic has increased: the surface of Dragonerstrasse in western Lenzburg is in poor condition and, according to the city council, is in urgent need of renovation. “Numerous cracks and surface patches characterize the appearance.” Although the former had been sealed in the past. Nevertheless, water can penetrate the foundation in many places and lead to further damage, especially in winter.

Two sections were renewed in 2017 and 2022. At its next meeting on March 9, the residents’ council will decide on a loan of CHF 375,000 for the third stage: for the area between the junction with Fünflindenstrasse and the edge of the Buchenweg forest.

It is planned to completely replace the road surface, to renew the surface of the sidewalk and to supplement the defective curbs. In accordance with the Equal Opportunities Act for Disabled Persons, the “Dufourstrasse” bus stop will have a 22-centimetre-high stopping edge. A shelter will also be built. The condition of the intake shafts and the discharges is checked. According to the city council, the project will be implemented together with the renovation of the gas, water and electricity supply lines. SWL Energie AG installs LED street lights.

Looking back: With the new buildings in the Fünflinden area, the residents’ council approved a loan in 1973 for the expansion of Dragoon and Dufourstrasse. The bus stop was put into operation in 1986 with the introduction of the then city bus. In 1995 the city council approved the Zelgli housing development. In this context, the existing traffic calming measures were implemented on Dragonerstrasse with the elevation and narrowing.
