Dr. Myasnikov explained the “Russian miracle” with coronavirus

Dr. Alexander Myasnikov, a famous TV presenter, spoke about the “Russian miracle” in the situation with the coronavirus pandemic. He wrote about this in his Telegram channel.

“For once we were lucky,” the doctor said. He noted that many people around the world talk about the “German miracle” – a relatively low mortality rate in Germany compared to other countries of Western Europe. However, at the same time, the “Russian miracle” is forgotten, although mortality in the Russian Federation is even lower than in Germany.

According to Myasnikov, coronavirus clearly spares Russians. This is due to differences in the health systems of the two countries. He added that in Russia medicine relies on a system of hospitals, and not on primary outpatient care, as in Germany. In addition, the doctor noted, in Russia the number of beds per capita is higher, there are a large number of mechanical ventilation devices (IVL) and personal protective equipment – masks and gloves.

“Today we have a mortality rate from coronavirus much lower than that from the flu and orders of magnitude lower than from other pneumonia. And this is also ensured by quarantine measures, ”Myasnikov summarized.

According to the latest data, in Germany 125,452 cases of COVID-19 were recorded and only 2,871 deaths. This is much less than in Italy and Spain, where 19 and 16 thousand people, respectively, died from coronavirus infection. In neighboring France, 130 thousand people were infected, and 10 thousand more died. In Russia, according to the latest data, 15,770 people were infected, 130 patients died from coronavirus infection and pneumonia. Moscow remains the epicenter of the spread of coronavirus in the Russian Federation – in the capital, 10 158 cases of COVID-19, 72 people died.

On February 11, Dr. Myasnikov spoke about the “benefits” of coronavirus for Russians. “A distant epidemic of atypical coronavirus pneumonia is raging in our media, causing the population to become infected. And this is somewhere good, ”the TV presenter wrote on his Twitter.

He noted that because of a comprehensive fear, Russians began to wash their hands more often, avoid contact with sick people and wear face masks. Although the risk of coronavirus infection in Russia, according to Myasnikov, tends to zero, other viral infections walk freely among the population, so the protective measures that many Russians resorted to came in handy.

The doctor noted that the “human” types of coronavirus are widespread throughout the world and are often the causes of acute respiratory infections and gastroenteritis.

Myasnikov paid special attention to protective masks, which, according to him, it makes sense to wear only to sick people and medical personnel. They will help an ordinary person only by making them less likely to touch their eyes and mouth with their hands. Butnikov advises all sick patients to stay at home and not to infect others. The TV presenter also said that the usual flu is “much more dangerous and has a higher mortality rate” than the “horror-coronavirus”.

On March 20, Myasnikov said that a significant decline in the incidence of COVID-19 caused by a new type of coronavirus can be expected in the near future. “The coronavirus epidemic will come to naught, I think, within a month, by mid-April,” Myasnikov expressed his opinion. Coronavirus causes an acute respiratory disease, which, in his opinion, is a seasonal phenomenon. A second outbreak may happen in the fall, he added.

Myasnikov also said that medicine has not yet “completely understood” methods for transmitting the virus. According to him, the introduction of quarantine is necessary, but it is unlikely that “it will last longer than a month.” At the same time, panic provoked by a pandemic is not justified, the doctor added.

“Individual risks are equal to zero, really – zero. Two hundred sick people per 100 million … Of course, you don’t have to run into it, you need to be as calm as possible because nerves do not help anyone, ”the expert is convinced.

The honored doctor of Moscow Alexander Myasnikov regularly speaks in the programs of the TV presenter Vladimir Solovyov, commenting not only on medical topics. In the winter of 2018, he spoke about the protests of the “yellow vests” in France.

It is too early to wait for the end of the coronavirus infection. Two days ago, when the number of cases in the country was 5 thousand less than today, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin stated that serious tests awaiting the capital in connection with coronavirus should be prepared.

According to him, it is difficult to predict in this situation, because different scientists have different versions.

In this regard, the mayor considers the best way out – to do the maximum possible in testing, preparing the medical system, monitoring compliance with the self-isolation regime and maintaining the balance of the economy.

“The only thing I will say is that we are facing a serious test, and we need to prepare for this,” Sobyanin concluded and reminded that the situation with coronavirus in Moscow has not yet reached a peak, but rather, “it is at its foot.”
