Privatdozent Dr. Jörn Maroske will take over from Dr. Matthias Schneider took on the duties of the Medical Director (ÄD) at the Main-Spessart Clinic in Lohr. Schneider, who is head of the anesthesia department at the clinic, has held the ED function since 2016, according to the clinic’s press release.
The clinic’s board of directors, together with the district administrator, recently decided to appoint a new medical director every three years from next year so that all medical departments can gradually become involved in the clinic’s board of directors. ?? A clinic lives from the expertise and perspectives of its various disciplines. The rotation to the position of medical director ensures that there are new impulses at regular intervals ,? explains Schneider. The district council of the district confirmed the resolution, its meeting on December 10th unanimously.
International insights into the health system
Head physician Maroske has been in charge of general, visceral and vascular surgery at the Main-Spessart Clinic since 2018. Before that, the 56-year-old, born in Heidelberg, worked as medical director and chief physician at the hospital in Rothenburg ob der Tauber for eleven years. He completed his medical studies in Würzburg from 1987 to 1993. He then worked in Birmingham and Crewe (England).
During his studies, Maroske had interned at the University Hospital in Los Angeles, California, and got deep insights into the American healthcare system. In 2000 he completed his training as a specialist in surgery and two years later became senior physician at the University Hospital in Würzburg. In 2005 he switched to the foundation clinics in Weißenhorn, Neu-Ulm and Illertissen as senior physician in charge. With his new position at the Main-Spessart Clinic, he will join the board of directors of the in-house operation ?? consisting of clinic advisor, nursing director and medical director.
Advance specialization
According to the clinic announcement, Maroske has set himself the goal of establishing further services in the form of specializations at the clinic as goals for his work as medical director. With regard to his subject, he is thinking, for example, of the further expansion of pancreatic and minimally invasive surgery (MIS). Thanks to the excellent professional staffing of the other specialist areas, additional focal points could also be expanded, says Maroske.
Overall, the Main-Spessart Clinic must continue to present its enormous efficiency and excellent medical and nursing staff to the outside world: “The medical and nursing teams do excellent work with extraordinarily high standards”, praises Maroske.
