If, despite the ban, a demonstration rave takes place on Dam Square this afternoon, the police are prepared. Dozens of police buses are waiting there, and the Mobile Unit (ME) has also been deployed.

“There are thousands of people on ‘present’ on Facebook, despite the ban,” said a police spokesman. ‘It is difficult to predict how many people will eventually come to Dam Square. We do this as a precaution. “
Event
The triangle (mayor, justice, police) decided last week to ban the demonstration rave. The action would have too many elements of entertainment and would have been classified as an event.
“That is contrary to the current emergency ordinance,” explains the police spokesman.
Moved
The organization itself says the event have moved. Demonstrators are asked to join a protest in The Hague tomorrow.
But it is not possible to say with certainty whether they are responding to this call. The activists may still go to Dam on their own initiative, which is why the police are present in large numbers.
Rebellion
The organizers indicated earlier that they wanted to rebel for ‘the entrepreneurs, creative minds and festivals in the Netherlands’. It would be a peaceful protest “where we dance together against the crooked corona policy.”
But on Facebook there were already some messages from people who would come to the rave with other intentions. “ME wants to sweep, we will not be beaten,” someone replied. And, “IF VIOLENCE IS USED, WE ALSO USE IT.”
