Dour: curtains closed, the café still welcomed around twenty customers

While the health situation is not improving, police checks are increasing to enforce the latest measures issued by the federal government. Thus, during the night from Friday to Saturday, the Hauts-Pays police zone ordered the closure of the café de la Poste, located on rue Grande, in Dour.

The police had initially been called by a local resident because of the noise. On site, around 2:30 am, the intervention patrol noticed that although the curtains were closed, the cafe was still lit. Laughter and loud voices were also audible from inside. After entering the establishment, the agents noted that around twenty people were seated in the dining room and at the bar.

In the absence of the manager of the establishment, the waiter was reminded that the ministerial decree on emergency measures to limit the spread of covid-19 requires the closing of drinking establishments at the latest at one o’clock. in the morning. The coffee was therefore evacuated and a report drawn up. The manager, who will be summoned for a hearing, is liable to an immediate fine of 750 euros. This can amount to 4000 euros if the file is filed with the public prosecutor.

The police specified that no report was drawn up against the customers present but that any person not respecting the rules in force in this very particular context incurs a fine of 250 euros. Better not to take the risk.
