Melissa and Eric Bizeau, from Wisconsin, say they were cautious during their stay, even though they had received their two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.

“We had rented an Airbnb. We were alone, ”says Melissa Bizeau in an interview with CNN.

At the end of their trip, husband Eric Bizeau began to have symptoms.

“I felt like I had the onset of a cold,” he told CNN.

But when he started to lose his sense of smell, the couple decided to get tested.

The two lovebirds have tested positive for COVID-19.

“I was tired and had severe cold symptoms,” says Melissa Bizeau.

According to an expert, the chances of contracting the virus and having symptoms are rare.

“If you’ve been vaccinated, you’re protected against COVID-19 infection,” David Ottendbaker of SSM Health Wisconsin Hospital told CNN.

The couple want to raise awareness about the importance of getting vaccinated and continuing to wear a mask.

“I had a bad pneumonia a few years ago and I believe that if I had not been vaccinated, there is a very very good chance that I would have ended up in the hospital,” believes Melissa Bizeau.

“Even though the posters say you don’t need to wear a mask if you’ve been vaccinated, wear one anyway,” advises Eric Bizeau.

The couple quarantined themselves at their campsite for two weeks before returning home.

The two claim that they are feeling a lot better, and that they won’t be taking off their masks anytime soon.
