d’Or – Festivities. Longvic: they made a life-size Christmas village

For thirty years, the house of the Andrianarivony family, located at 22, boulevard des Hortensias, has been decorated each year with a different theme. “This year, we wanted to pay tribute to our parents,” explains Éric Andrianarivony. This passion for Christmas decorations came to them after a trip to the United States where many houses were decorated. When they returned, they wanted to do the same at home.

A budget of 500 € this year

“Every year, there is a renewal to be done in the garlands because some no longer work. And we also try to follow current trends. “For 2020, the decoration budget is around € 500. “This year, the installation started before mid-November. You never know if the weather will allow us to move forward properly. To install everything, there were six of us permanently after our working days. Our family and friends lent us a helping hand. “

A large part of the decorations are made by hand. The houses that make up the village and the church required more than three weeks of work, sometimes even until 3 am. “The decorations we make allow us to please ourselves but also to please children and adults. It even happens that children no longer want to leave, ”smiles Eric. “When you install, you don’t realize the end result. For this year, we gave each person who came to set up several garlands to arrange them as they wanted. The only constraint was to make a harmonious whole. We see the culmination of our work when people come in and say “Wow!”. “

Each year, the number of visitors increases, thanks to word of mouth and social networks. “This year, we notably received a visit from a person from Marseille, who heard about it on Facebook and who came to see our house during a trip to Dijon. On weekends, it is possible to receive more than a hundred people over a day, ”says Éric. If you have not yet discovered the magical world of Andrianarivony, you have until January 6, 2021.
