When Don Andrés Díaz goes out into the backyard of the house he is renting, the dogs quickly pounce on him and begin to show him affection, while their tails do not stop wagging from one side to the other, showing their joy, surely because of the good treatment that gives them.

And it is that despite all the deficiencies that the Casa Hogar Scooby, in Masaya, goes through, what does abound is the love for the animals that are housed there.

“The Scooby Home House is about eight years old since it was founded, I have walked as a nomad, from one place to another renting, because there are neighbors who do not like dogs because of the bad smell, they say. It’s sad to go from place to place and see faces,” says Díaz.

He claims to feel satisfaction and happiness when caring for the animals, because he considers them as part of his family. He says that since he was a child he would take home the puppies he found on the streets and from there his love for animals was born.

“I’ve had many dogs like this, until my daughter helped me do something for the puppies, a project, and here we are with Casa Hogar Scooby, she on one side and me on the other,” she adds.

He mentioned that one of the problems that puppies go through is that they are hurt by residents who apparently have no conscience, he even received a dog named “Mynor” who was macheted by a beef trimmer and tore off part of its muzzle, or as the case may be. recent of the dog “Miracle”, that a knife was embedded in her forehead and she had to undergo emergency surgery.

“But there are other problems such as a tumor, scabies, the food that is the biggest complication, sometimes I go to the market to put up my face so that they give me fish gills or meat loss to make them watery rice. It is very difficult to feed them because there are quite a few that I rescue, and sometimes I refuse to accept dogs that have owners because they no longer want to take responsibility,” Díaz clarified.

This noble-hearted citizen has 42 adult dogs, 9 puppies, 12 cats and 5 tortoises in his shelter, which he will soon release.
