Even in late spring, we reported that Dolby Vision is approaching the new Xbox generation, which capability has now arrived as part of an update. Thanks to this, HDR on Xbox Series S and X consoles can now be operated not only via the HDR10 but also via the Dolby Vision standard.
This obviously requires a TV that supports Dolby Vision, and the feature in question must be directly supported by the application or game. According to Microsoft, there are more than a hundred titles that provide Dolby Vision, such as Gears 5 for the simulated presentation shown above, but the upcoming Halo Infinite will also be an option.
It is important to note that not all TVs have perfect system recognition yet, so the feature may not be activated automatically, but you can turn it on manually at any time in the console’s video mode settings if the display can accept this type of format. Later, automated activation may be an option, as Microsoft is working with vendors to create new firmware for TVs that eliminates the need for users to perform manual parameterization.
