“Dogta Lafiè”, a reference hospital inaugurated by President Faure Gnassingbé – Togo-Presse

Today, there is no longer any need to go abroad for treatment. Togo now has a hospital that meets international standards. This is the hospital Dogta Lafiè », a real health territory with a level 4 technical platform, essentially oriented towards excellent care, capable of offering most of the solutions to the health problems posed by patients. This hospital complex, located opposite Moto Cross in Agoè-Nyivé, was inaugurated on Wednesday April 26 by the Head of State, Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé, as part of the 63e anniversary of Togo’s accession to international sovereignty. It was in the presence of Prime Minister Victoire Tomégah-Dogbé, the President of the National Assembly Yawa Djigbodi Tsègan, members of the government and the diplomatic corps, as well as other political, military, traditional and religious personalities.

The Dogta-Lafiè hospital is a response to the manifest desire of the Head of State, Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé, to offer the Togolese population and the sub-region a reassuring health care framework, which has not nothing to envy, in terms of quality and reference, to Western structures. This work is composed of 08 blocks connected by a central distribution block. It has 22 consultation rooms, 160 beds and places, including suites, premium, single and double rooms, and day hospital places. These are the block of medical imaging and dental care, medicine, administration, surgery, women-mother-child, and the VIP block with its coffee area for accompanying persons and those of laboratories and logistics. As far as services and equipment are concerned, the Dogta Lafiè hospital has a state-of-the-art imaging technical platform, 06 operating rooms, including 02 hyper aseptic to international standards. It is also equipped with a functional exploration unit, a modern multipurpose laboratory and a pharmacy.

Since 1is March, the medical imaging, odonto-stomatology and functional rehabilitation departments are open to the public. So far, the hospital has received just over five hundred (500) patients. The other specialties will be opened gradually, after this official inauguration. According to the forecast activity indicators, it will eventually serve 30 to 40% of the Togolese population and drain, because of its advantageous pricing and the quality of its offer, a new population which previously did not not addressed to hospitals. Dogta Lafiè will limit the needs for medical evacuation and their corollary, in terms of exorbitant costs, while contributing to the improvement of the entire Togolese hospital system, to thus participate in the conditions for the operationalization of the universal health insurance instituted by the law of October 18, 2021.

Dogta-Lafiè equipped with a medical robotic platform scalable

According to the Director General of the National Social Security Fund (CNSS), initiator of this project, Mrs. Ingrid Awadé, Dogta Lafiè has a very innovative Hospital Information System (HIS), integrating a scalable medical robotic platform. Each block has a spraying and disinfection robot, multi-purpose robots connected to the HIS. In the very short term, she specifies, a complete oncology unit will be set up (radiation therapy, scintigraphy, brachytherapy, chemotherapy) for the treatment and monitoring of cancerous pathologies of all types. Dogta Lafiè will soon have an ultra-modern block dedicated to VIP hospitalizations with a capacity of 36 suites, an enlarged physiotherapy department, an ophthalmological operating block and another surgery room. In all, the specialties offered concern surgery, obstetrical gynecology, pediatrics-neonatology, oncology, interventional cardiology, the biology and anatomopathology laboratory, hospitalization and an integrated pharmacy. The following related services are also planned: a laundry over an area of ​​487 m2, a funeral home, water treatment equipment, a restaurant, a road network, an ambulance service, a hotel and a heliport.

In addition, Dogta Lafiè has two outposts. In Blitta, there is an oxygen production unit, a radiology service with scanner, standard radio, ultrasound and a telemedicine unit. In Kara, there is a scanner, an MRI, an echograph, a laboratory, an ophthalmology and hemodialysis room.

The site has already generated 374 direct jobs

For Mrs. Awadé, apart from the construction work which mobilized a very large number of workers, the operation of the site has already generated 374 direct jobs, which will reach 500 when fully opened, and probably double in indirect jobs, integrating the security, maintenance, waste disposal, patient transport, local hotels, catering for patients and their families. Dogta Lafiè also has an impact on the education and training levels of staff: training of practitioners and nursing staff in new methods via partners, with medical schools and faculties, training of medical equipment maintenance technicians.
