Dog meat could be banned in South Korea / Article

South Korean President Mun Jane has said a law banning dog meat should be passed.

Most Koreans have never eaten dog meat, and demand for this product has fallen sharply in recent years, reports to the BBC.

But for many Koreans, especially the elderly, dog meat is still a favorite food; Up to a million dogs are slaughtered and eaten in South Korea each year.

The popularity of dog meat has declined in recent years; more and more Koreans see dogs as a favorite family member rather than a food source.

A survey conducted in 2020 shows that 84% of South Koreans have never eaten dog meat. 59% support a ban on the consumption of dog meat.
