Does the BER have to pay the minimum wage to 20,000 testers? – B.Z. Berlin

The airport company FBB wants to serve 20,000 extras at BER airport with coffee, apple and bread rolls. Lawyers and politicians are demanding the minimum wage for the testers.

Almost all extras are already taken. A full-time job awaits you: Arrival and departure to Schönefeld, carrying six hours of suitcases, long footpaths, checking in, security checks – and standing in line again and again.

“The testers do a job and have to be paid for it,” demands left-wing faction leader Sebastian Walter (29). “The minimum wage law applies here,” FU labor law professor Florian Rödl told the “MOZ”.

At 10.68 euros per hour, the airport would have to pay the testers 1.28 million euros. But he doesn’t want to. Brandenburg’s Ministry of Labor “assumes that the airport company has checked this legally”.

“The testers volunteer,” says airport spokesman Hannes Hönemann. “They are neither employed nor do FBB have the right to issue instructions.” That is why the minimum wage law does not apply here.

Left boss Walter is not convinced. He says: “We will bring the topic to the BER special committee on Monday!”
