Documentary theater stage on the murders of Niels Högel in Oldenburg – “A collective catastrophe”

“We don’t focus on the murderer Niels Högel, but on the victims and survivors of the deeds,” says the director of “ÜberLeben”, Julia Roesler. The play could be an occasion to talk and think differently about the murder series again.

Above all, the play shocks the impression that the relatives and the survivors “are still completely alone” and that there is no awareness of the series of murders as a “collective catastrophe”, says Julia Roesler.

Roesler is a director of the theater collective werkgruppe 2. At the Oldenburg State Theater, she brings the murder case Niels Högel on stage as a documentary project. The nurse had killed many people in the Oldenburg and Delmenhorst clinics in 2000-2005, and he was convicted of murder in 85 cases.

The theater project entitled “ÜberLeben” was criticized from the start. On February 29th it will be premiered in Oldenburg.
