Documentary film “Influencers” made in Latvia – about the daily life of Roy Roger and Agnia Grigule – Celebrities

The film will not only open the door to the thoughts and feelings of the main characters, which usually remain outside their content, but will also explain who the influencers are, how the Internet and social networks have developed in Latvia and how it affects our daily lives.

Invited experts – adolescent psychotherapist Nils Sakss Konstantinovs, research journalist Inese Liepiņa, social anthropologist Agnese Cimdiņa, digital marketing specialist Jānis Polis, brand strategist Kristaps Siliņš, everyday media artist Raitis Šmits and influencer digital influencer Deniss Ševeļ Does it deepen loneliness? Expand your chances of gaining fame? How important is media literacy? How does it affect our psyche?

We are in an age where young people and the economically active population are consuming digital content almost constantly. The gaze is focused on the screens on the street, in shops, during meetings and elsewhere. Rarely, when you have to wait for something – service at the store’s cash register, “green” at a traffic light – you are able not to use the phone. Much of the time spent on the phone is spent on social media.

“The transition to the digital environment is a topical issue around the world. It is not for nothing that the film about social networks “The Social Dilemma” has become so popular this year. It’s a new reality, with new rules of the game. Many questions arise: will we be able to withstand this oversaturation of information? How to weed out fake messages? How to show yourself on social networks? At one time, the power of news belonged to the one who had the loudest voice in the market square, later – to book publishers, newspaper printers, in the recent past – to television and radio. Now it’s the internet.

This film is about celebrities who have gained fame only with content published on the Internet.

Agnija and Roy are in their twenties, who know how to present themselves and make money as influencers, ”says Eva Johansone, the author of the film’s script, LTV journalist.

The Latvian describes himself as a single farmer with closed curtains and a thuja fence. At the moment, the opposite is happening – even introverts often open the curtain to see themselves 24 hours a day. Since the boom of social networks, a new reality space has been created where influencers rule. They are popular social media users who tend to make money by advertising different brands. Intense, beautified, constantly updated cyberspace. They, as if through a window, through the screen, allow you to look into your private room, you can see what they are eating, what is being pulled on their back, what they love. They have an undeniable impact on their audience. But do they feel fulfilled?
