Doctors found immunity to COVID-19 in another group of people – Charter’97 :: News from Belarus – Belarusian news – News from Belarus – Republic of Belarus

Previously, they lived in areas where there were outbreaks of an exotic disease.

People who have had dengue fever may be immune to the COVID-19 coronavirus.

This is evidenced by the results of a study by a professor at Duke University (USA) Miguel Nicolelis, transfers Reuters… The scientist drew attention to the fact that in areas where outbreaks of the disease were recorded, there is a low rate of infection and spread of COVID-19.

In his study, Nicolelis compared the geographic distribution of coronavirus cases with the spread of fever in 2019 and 2020. As a result, it turned out that infection with dengue fever can provide a certain level of immunity to COVID-19.

Those with fever may be immune to COVID-19

A correlation between the rate of COVID-19 incidence and dengue outbreaks has been found in Brazil, parts of Latin America, Asia, and the Pacific and Indian Oceans.

According to the scientist, if this hypothesis turns out to be true, then the disease with dengue fever or the use of a vaccine against it can give immunity to the coronavirus.

Nicolelis also believes that research that people with fever can falsely test positive for COVID-19 antibodies indicate “an immunological interaction between the two viruses,” although they “belong to completely different families.”

However, the specialist said that further research is needed to prove the link between the two diseases.

Dengue fever is a mosquito-borne flavivirus found in tropical and subtropical regions of the world, mainly in urban and semi-urban settings. The disease is transmitted by a yellow fever mosquito that bites during the day. It is the fastest-spreading vector-borne viral disease and is currently endemic in over 100 countries.
