Doctors against Mário Pereira’s possession as clinical director meet again today at the Ordem dos Médicos

Doctors who oppose the appointment and inauguration scheduled for midday tomorrow, of doctor Mário Pereira, as clinical director of SESARAM, meet again at the Ordem dos Médicos to decide new ways of acting. The first objective is to try to prevent possession from taking place, but other initiatives must already be decided, considering the low probability of Mário Pereira not taking possession. One of the possibilities is the occurrence of several layoffs already announced today or tomorrow, among the service directors.

The meeting is scheduled for 7 pm, at the regional headquarters of the Order of Doctors, the same place where the 40 doctors met, who oppose the appointment. This concerns, in particular, the overwhelming majority of service directors, who started out by organizing themselves through a group of Whatsapp that was ‘Our Hospital’.

From the previous meeting, held last Monday, came a statement read by Filomeno Paulo. The doctors said they were facing an illegal appointment and that partisans the clinical area of ​​SESARAM and called for not taking office.

In response, the next day, at JM, the President of the Government said: “The Regional Government does not change its decision (…). Whoever wants me to resign. ”This statement still displeased the doctors even more, with another episode of aggravation, two days later:“ In democracy, the people are in charge and not organized groups, not elected ”. At today’s meeting, Albuquerque’s statements will also be considered.

Another statement that was not well received was that of the chairman of the Board of Directors of SESARAM, to TSF, on Sunday, in which he spoke of the contestation and respective news as “Mexican soap opera”.

The appointment of Mário Pereira to the Clinical Directorate of SESARAM occurred after, in practice, the name of Filomena Gonçalves was rejected for the same position. The two names are a choice of the CDS, which results from the political agreement, established between that party and the PSD, for the formation of the current Government and parliamentary majority.
