Doctor: Breast cancer can occur in men and can be more malignant

If diagnosed in men he is more aggressive than women

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Doctors and Surgical Oncologists from the Dharmais Bob Andinata Cancer Hospital said breast cancer can also occur in men and has a more virulent nature than.

“Treatment must also be faster because breast cancer in men is more virulent than in women,” said Bob in a virtual talk show Screening and Early Detection of Conscious We Can Be followed in Jakarta, Thursday.

Bob said that this can be influenced by several risk factors such as obesity (overweight), abnormalities in the testes that produce the hormone testosterone or syndrome disorders such as gynecomastia or the condition of male breasts resembling female breasts in general.

Long-term use of hormones such as the use of prostate drugs, he said, can also spur the occurrence of breast cancer in men.

Although noted to occur in only one to two percent, he said breast cancer in men can spread more aggressively than breast cancer in women.

Bob further explained, the treatment of breast cancer in men also has differences with women who are carried out in several stages.

According to Bob, breast cancer examination in men can be directly carried out by doing Sadaris (clinical breast examination) if there is a lump in the breast or a complaint is felt.

“Early detection is different for women, yes. If women are aware of it and so on, if men are only aware of it, if there are complaints, they will only arise,” he said.

Finally, he explained, if there is a lump in a man’s breast, the patient will receive an examination by an oncologist through an ultrasound (ultrasound) performed on the man’s testicles.

“If there is any lump in a man’s breast, it is enough to have it checked. If it doesn’t go away, you’ll have surgery, but that’s not necessarily breast cancer. But indeed, if diagnosed in men, he is more aggressive than women,” he said.
