Chub. The Döbelner cinema friends had to forego their pleasure for a long time. The cinema had been closed since autumn. But now there is a streak of light on the horizon. The cinema will start again on June 24th. Not with a drive-in cinema, like last year, but as normal in the four cinemas. “We are happy that we can start again,” said cinema director Niklas Spitzer.
The visit will be worthwhile for cinema fans, said Spitzer. There are good films out in June and July, such as the action thriller Black Widow, which is due to hit cinemas in July. It has not yet been decided which of them will be shown in the cinema, said Spitzer. “The film distributors are still cautious about that.”

Hygiene concept as last year
The hygiene concept will apply to the cinema as it did last year, when it was able to get started again in the summer after the first wave. The capacity in the halls is limited. When it comes to tracking contacts, the cinema mainly relies on the electronic version via the Corona-Warnapp and the Luca app, said Spitzer. “It should be as simple as possible.” The guests should also be recorded in writing. “You can’t expect everyone to have a smartphone with the app.”
Time used for modernization
With the closure in autumn, the cinema had sent its employees on short-time work. “We’ll get through this. We still have reserves from the past few years, and there is support from the federal government, ”said the cinema director.
The cinema operator used the time of the closure. The toilets have been completely modernized – including new tiles and contactless fittings with sensor technology, said Spitzer. “The tiles are the same as in the foyer. We now have the same look throughout. As a special feature, the cinema has now set up couches in its halls in the first row, on which guests can feel like they are in their own living room. “That works because the distance to the screen in Chub is big enough,” said Spitzer.
Longer opening times during the holidays
About ten people work in the cinema, said the director. “We want to hire a few more. The holidays are just around the corner, so we’re open longer. “
