Due to the corona crisis, the sales markets for used textiles are breaking down and the storage capacities have been exhausted. For this reason, the Würzburg Diocesan Association of the Federation of German Catholic Youth (BDKJ) calls for the donation of used clothing to be temporarily discarded.
The BDKJ continues to endeavor to ensure that containers are emptied promptly, says Diocesan Chair Christina Lömmer in a press letter. “However, this becomes increasingly difficult as the state of emergency increases. Because our cooperation partner is already reaching its limits with its storage and sorting capacities for used textiles. ”
That is why the BDKJ, together with the umbrella organization FairWertung, appeals not to put clothes bags in front of or next to overcrowded containers, but to store the clothes donations at home until the containers can be emptied again smoothly.
