A two-year-old child from Bihar who was abducted from Chaka, Thiruvananthapuram is being taken from the general hospital to the medical college for specialist treatment.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM ∙ In the case of abduction of a two-year-old girl of a nomadic couple from Chaka, the child will be returned to the couple. The decision came after the DNA result came in favor of the couple. The DNA test revealed that he was the child of a nomadic couple. The police submitted a report to the Child Welfare Committee stating that the child can be handed over to the parents.

Police arrested the suspect in the case yesterday. Hasankutty alias Kabir (50), a native of Varkala Ayirur, was arrested from Kollam Chinnakada. Earlier, he was in jail for three and a half years in POCSO case and theft cases. He was released on January 22 after getting bail in the POCSO case of harassing an 11-year-old girl. There are 8 cases against him. The pattern of the suspect is wandering. Earlier, there was an incident in Kollam where locals beat up a local boy when he tried to kidnap him. The accused also admitted that he tried to molest the child by snatching it.

The child went missing on the 19th of last month while he was sleeping with his parents and siblings on the roadside in Chaka. After more than 19 hours of searching, the child was found abandoned in a river more than six feet deep, 500 meters away. The child slept with his parents and 3 brothers. A couple from Bihar came to Kerala to sell honey. A DNA test was conducted to identify whether the child is theirs. Police intervened and shifted the child to the shelter of the Child Welfare Committee.
