Over 4000 spectators, densely crowded, sunshine, and players from all corners of Europe. The Novak Djokovic-initiated Adriatic Tour, a tournament series on the Balkans, is a full success with the public. And triggers in the Rest of the world a large surprise. Because you draw the picture of a perfect world, as the Region would have remained from the Coronavirus spared. It has not been. For now, the Adriatic has a Tour of what was probably not expected: the first corona case. Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov, who played on the last weekend in Belgrade, was tested positive.

Last weekend he celebrated with Novak Djokovic, Alexander Zverev and Dominic Thiem, still Arm-in-Arm, in Serbia’s capital Belgrade. Back to his home in Monte Carlo, he is now calling for all that would have had in the last few days with him, to test and to go in quarantine. After all, he pushes for an apology. The incubation time, i.e. the time between infection and the onset of the disease Covid-19 is up to two weeks. It is quite possible that Dimitrov was already infected when he entered the front of one and a half weeks.

Djokovic dismissed criticism of the Adriatic Tour with the reference to the low infection rates in Serbia and said that she’d be “mainly from the West”. The Balkans was not as strongly affected as the Rest of the world. Nevertheless, Djokovic pointed out that the spacing rules and the recommendations of the authorities would always adhered to. Djokovic had spoken out previously against a mandatory vaccination for Tennis players, and thus the criticism of epidemiologists and virologists in Serbia to be drawn. Currently, the Adriatic Tour takes place in the Croatian city of Zadar. (Aargau newspaper.ch)
