DJI Action 2 Is the Successor to Osmo Action, Brings Modular Design and 4K 120fps Recording

Still remember with Osmo Action? Action camera from DJI released in 2019 it is designed to compete directly with GoPro. In its time, it boasted a dual-screen feature that its competitors did not yet have.

Now that DJI has released the successor to the Osmo Action, welcome the DJI Action 2 with a very different concept. It has a modular design with magnetic in the form of a small box, its dimensions are only 39×39×22.3 mm and it weighs 56 grams.

The front is dominated by a 1.7-inch screen with thin bezels around it. The body already waterproof up to 10 meters and up to 60 meters with waterproof case.

On the inside, the DJI Action 2 packs a 1/1.7-inch CMOS sensor, the same as that of the DJI Pocket 2. For comparison, the Osmo Action has a 1/2.3-inch sensor.

The sensor combines an F2.8 lens with a 155-degree field of view, 10 degrees wider than the Osmo Action. Also, it features a new color temperature sensor to help the camera produce accurate colors in a variety of situations including underwater.

Despite its small body, the DJI Action 2 has great capabilities. For photography, it can produce 4000×3000 pixels or 12MP resolution photos, supports Raw DNG format, digital zoom 4x, and has an electronic shutter from 30 seconds to 1/8000 second.

The video recorder, DJI Action 2 is capable of producing footage 4K 120fps, 2.7K 120fps, and 1080p resolutions with frame rates up to 240fps. For stable recordings, DJI combines stabilization EIS RockSteady 2.0 and HorizonSteady, but it should be noted that EIS does not support the above recording frame rate 100fps and HorizonSteady only available at 1080p or 2.7K resolution in 16:9 ratio.

Then, how long can the DJI Action 2 battery last? Approximately 70 minutes, and even then achieved when recording video limited to 1080p 30fps with electronic image stabilization disabled. Users can extend it up to 160 minutes by connecting it to front touchscreen module, and up to 180 minutes when connected to power module.

The price of the DJI Action 2 itself starts at US $ 399 or around Rp. 5.6 million. Thanks to the modular design with magnetic, action camera it is supported by many accessory modules and users can customize it with workflow and his needs.

These accessories, among others front touchscreen module featuring a front-facing OLED display and 4-mic Matrix Stereo.
