Discussions have begun in Ukraine about a new term for Vladimir Zelensky as President of Ukraine and his replacements. The day before, he himself announced his desire to run for office and demanded $5 billion from Western countries, reported “RIA Novosti».

Zelensky’s presidency expires on May 20, 2024.

There are also candidates to replace Zelensky, and they have become more active, writes NEWS.ru. Among them are the mayor of Kyiv Vitaliy Klitschko, the head of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny, Zelensky’s predecessor Petro Poroshenko and ex-Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko.

The publication, citing the director of the Dutch Center for Eurasian Studies, political scientist Vladimir Kornilov, writes that the West is seeking re-election of the President of Ukraine in the spring, but the problem is how to organize voting in a war zone, and besides, millions of Ukrainians are outside the country.

The media also quotes the words of Verkhovna Rada deputy Alexander Dubinsky, who announced the upcoming reshuffle in the government of Ukraine. He suggested that Prime Minister Denis Shmygal would resign, and his place would be taken by Ambassador to the United States Oksana Markarova. Dubinsky also noted that Zelensky allegedly has “plans for changes in the ruling Servant of the People party” – according to him, “the party will soon be headed by the president’s wife, Elena.”

It is possible that Zelensky is going to lobby his own wife for the post of head of state, Dubinsky noted. However, this option is hardly possible – Zelenskaya would not be able to gain popularity among the people, the publication writes with reference to Bezpalko.

According to the Ukrainian constitution, the next presidential elections are due to be held in March 2024, but election law prohibits them from being held during martial law.
