He Vizcaya College is a cooperative of families of students and students, declared of Social Interest and Public Utility. It currently has 1,931 members, of whom 767 are non-user members, that is, those who cannot carry out the corporate purpose of the cooperative, because their sons and daughters have already finished their studies, but who, due to identification with the center, have decided to continue being members (so that the grandchildren can access the services of the cooperative in the future).
This the best indicator of loyalty and satisfaction with the service it offers. From the motto ‘Educate in responsibility for coexistence in freedom’, the purpose they pursue is to help our students, in collaboration with their families, to structure their personality, achieving progressive levels of personal autonomy, making it easier for them to discover for themselves the meaning of their present, the means for their social, cultural and human progress, and can thus invent and project their own future, with the hope that they will recreate the world in which they have had to live.
The differentiating teaching methods of Colegio Vizcaya are its own organizational system, called ‘Weekly plan’; the empowerment of new technologies, giving rise to an evolution and change in ICTs and TACs (Learning and Knowledge Technologies); the importance of psychomotor development and sports promotion; the elaboration of own materials; multilingualism (languages taught: Basque, Spanish, English, French and German, and Chinese in extracurricular classes); and the importance of cultural, solidarity, service-learning and environmental activities.
They keep in mind advances in the field of neuroscience; to know the complete functioning of the brain, how it learns and what processes facilitate the construction of knowledge. “We are a center that encourages innovation and motivates its development under the motto ‘dare to be wrong‘”, they emphasize from the center of Vizcaya.
The latest innovations launched at the center are: the Food Waste Reduction Project through Vermicomposting, the Emotional Well-being Project and the STEAM Project.
