Tyrannosaurus Rex is often described as a “king”. dinosaursScary, but who came before him in the series and how he turned into this terrifying monster later.
In this regard, paleontologists explained that they are closer to getting the answer to this question, after discovering the remains of a new “scary” type of tyrannosaur, which has horns around the eyes.
The new species was found in Montana and is seen as a “halfway point” or “missing link” between older and younger dinosaur species.
The new type has a mixture of features found in more primitive dinosaurs from ancient rocks, such as a prominent set of horns around the eye, as well as features otherwise known from later members of this group (including T. rex), such as elongated eye sockets and enlarged eyes Air sinuses in the skull.
Paleontologists at the Badlands Dinosaur Museum in North Dakota discovered the fossils, which include a rib and foot bone, in the Judith River Formation of northeastern Montana between 2017 and 2021.
The original discovery was made by crew member Jack Wilson, who discovered a small, flat piece of bone protruding from the bottom of a steep cliff.
This distinctive flat bone was the central part of the dinosaur’s nostril, and careful excavation around the bone revealed a complete premaxilla, the bone at the tip of the snout.
