“Discover the Secret Manufacturing Site of Peugeot and Citroen in Rennes with Guided Tours from May 2022”

This is probably the most secret place in the Rennes region: Stellantis. It’s here that the group manufactures the Peugeot 5008 and the Citroen C5 Aircross with nearly 2,300 employees full time. Since the Covid-19 crisis and the shortage of semiconductors, the Chartres-de-Bretagne site had no longer opened its doors.

But from this Thursday, May 4, 2023, guided tours will be organized by the French brand and the Rennes Tourist Office, from a amount of 15 euros per person to visit the company from the inside for 1h30. By reservation at the tourist office, www.tourisme-rennes.com

This is a secret site since 2018. No visits, no photos but now it is possible to discover the ballet of automatic robots. The guide begins and explains how assembly, painting, and the role of robotics work. “It’s all new to me”explains Philippe, tour guide at Destination Bretagne. “It’s a new mission for us, a great challenge”smiles the guide, between two explanations.

These guided tours are a godsend for the director of the Stellantis de la Janais site in Chartres-de-Bretagne, Etienne Martin-Commandeur. “There was a certain consistency in opening our doors, especially after the Covid phase and the shortage of semiconductors”explains the owner of the site. “Finally it is quite logical to open up to Rennes”.

A partnership signed over the long term, until mid-2024, because the Chartres site will have to build the new Citroën. At that time, it will be necessary to remain secret and therefore wait to return to Stellantis’ lair.

From May 4, 2022, four visits per week, Tuesdays and Thursdays, at 9:45 a.m. and 1:45 p.m. are organized by Stellantis and Destination Rennes. A visit possible by reservation at the tourist office, www.tourisme-rennes.com
