Discount on assistance from caring brother, sister or grandchild of the job NOW

The Senate puts a stop to a change in the law that would make people who live with second-degree relatives to care for them receive less assistance. The House of Representatives wanted to delete an exception to the so-called cost-sharing standard.

The cost-sharing standard means that social assistance benefits decrease as more people live at one address. There is one exception: those who live with a family member to take care of the person are not cut.

The House of Representatives previously decided that this exception should be deleted, because it makes an unfair distinction between family members and others who form a household.

Interest organizations such as FNV Beneficiaries, the Children’s Ombudsman and the Street Alliance invoked the Senate last weekend Faithful to not go along with that. The deletion of the exception actually leads to more homelessness and poverty, the organizations argue.
