Disappearance of Marine Payoux: A Tragic Turn in the Investigation

It’s a new disappearance which has particularly worried in recent weeks in the Tarn-et-Garonne. Since the night of Friday June 16 to Saturday June 17, 2023, Marine Payoux, a young woman aged 21, has given no sign of life. And this when she had gone to an evening in the town of Villemur-sur-Tarn a few hours earlier in her vehicle. Shortly after, the gendarmes found the car of the young woman in a parking lot, not far from the Lacourt-Saint Pierre canal. Then followed extensive research, in particular via a helicopter, or by sending divers into the river. But Thursday, July 13, 2023, the case seems to have taken a dramatic new turn. The body of a woman, as well as personal effects nearby, were indeed found by a farmer, in Lacourt-Saint Pierre, in a grove 500 meters from Marine’s car. The prosecutor of Montauban then spoke in the wake of this macabre discovery, specifying that a “handbag with an identity document belonging to him” had been found. The dress, she, “would suggest that it could be the missing young woman”. Cautious about the identity of the body found, the prosecutor also added that “ad hoc samples for DNA and toxicological analyzes were carried out”, with the aim of lift the veil on this case.
