Codemasters has dedicated an extensive blog post to DiRT 5 career mode. In your career you drive in an off-road racing series with locations on different continents. As you begin to set foot in the racing scene, Alex Janiček – AJ for short – draws your attention. Alex is spoken by Troy Baker. AJ is a superstar and fan favorite. He will take you under his wing and show you the way to the top.
Next to you, the new driver Bruno Durand causes a sensation, spoken by Nolan North. A champion in other off-road disciplines, cold and a calculating veteran. Durand is a star and there is a collision with AJ. A race between the two legends lays the foundation for your own legacy in racing.
Your story and more will be featured in the DiRT podcast by Donut Media. The podcast will be moderated by Nolan Sykes and James Pumphrey. AJ, Bruno, W-Series champion Jamie Chadwick and SLAPTrain appear as guests.
The DiRT 5 career is divided into five chapters. Each chapter offers several ways. You have the choice of which events you want to take part in. Optionally, you can also take part in the other events. In total there will be over 130 events in nine different race types.
If you complete races, the path to new events opens in the chapter. The better your placement, the more stamps you collect. In each chapter you have to collect enough stamps to unlock the main event. A main event closes a chapter. They are harder than normal events and you have to get at least third place to advance to the next chapter. If you complete certain goals during your DiRT 5 career, you can unlock secret throwdowns. In this you drive against challengers.
As a rookie you need some sponsors on the way to fame. 20 real brands are represented in the game. These include Monster Energy, Fatlace, Michelin and Sparco. Each sponsor offers unique rewards such as stickers that you can use in the editor. Each sponsor offers you goals. Both short term and long term goals. Your reputation rises through fulfillment. If you reach the top rank, you will receive a reward.
You can switch to a new sponsor at any time during your DiRT 5 career. The faster you go, the lower the reward. Especially if you have not previously fulfilled the minimum contract.
Tired of driving to the top alone? Up to four players can drive the career mode in the split screen. In events with multiple drivers on the track, each player replaces an AI driver. The highest end position of each player counts for the career. In the team you can earn more stamps, sponsor bonuses and money. However, only the host receives this. All other players receive experience points and money for their account. The split screen offers drop-in.
