MADRID, 22 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Islamic State has claimed responsibility for a terrorist attack perpetrated inside the Crocus City Hall concert hall, in the northwest of the Russian capital, Moscow, which has left 40 people dead.

The attack has been claimed by the group in a statement released by its propaganda services, as reported by SITE Intelligence Group, an organization specialized in monitoring terrorist groups.

The attack has so far left 145 injured, 60 of them in serious condition, as reported by the Russian Minister of Health, Mikhail Murashko. For its part, the Ministry of Health of the Moscow region has specified that among the injured there are at least eight minors.

The five attackers entered the building dressed in camouflage and armed with machine guns and fired numerous bursts of shots at civilians around 7:15 p.m. (local time). The special forces have managed to evacuate the building and have launched an operation to capture the shooters, who have fled.

Kremlin spokesman Dimitri Peskov has assured that President Vladimir Putin has been notified of what happened. The authorities have canceled all mass events and have reinforced security at the country’s main airports.

The helicopters have dropped some 160 tons of water to extinguish the fire, now under control, that originated inside the seven-story building after the shooting, which occurred shortly before a concert by a group called Picnic began, according to reports. reported the TASS news agency.

Ukrainian authorities had completely disassociated themselves from the shooting. «Ukraine certainly had nothing to do with the shootings and explosions at Crocus City Hall. “It doesn’t make any sense,” detailed the main advisor to the Ukrainian Presidency, Mijailo Podoliak, on his official profile on the social network X.

Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) announced in early March that its forces had thwarted a planned attack by a suspected cell of the Islamic State terrorist group against a synagogue in Moscow.
