Director Nathwani’s ‘Last Swim’ Wins Top Prize at Generation Awards in Berlinale

‘Last Swim’ was the opening film of the Generation Awards, a ceremony that is part of the Berlinale and specifically aimed at young people. It is not the first time that Caviar has won a top prize in that section. In 2015, the production house won the Grand Prix of the international jury with director Marielle Heller with ‘The Diary of a Teenage Girl’. It is the first time for Nathwani, as ‘Last Swim’ is also his debut as a director.

Set on a hot summer day in London at the end of high school, the film follows British-Iranian teenager Ziba as she takes her friends on an eventful journey through the city. Despite the festive atmosphere, she struggles to stay positive as she struggles with the secrets she has kept from her friends. As the sun sets, Ziba has no choice but to face her fears on the last day of their adolescence.
