From Twint’s point of view, the statements made by Digitec Galaxus are pure eyewash.

“It tinted itself out,” Digitec Galaxus spokesman Alex Hämmerli wrote in a sensational blog post today. The illustration shows a hand that deletes the Twint app from the cell phone.
–
As of today, purchases on digitec.ch and galaxus.ch can no longer pay with the Twint mobile payment system. “The payment service provider Twint has switched off its service,” said Digitec Galaxus. The step had been apparent for months.
–
Hämmerli argues that Twint wanted to impose a significantly higher payment fee on the online department store. The Migros subsidiary Digitec Galaxus, however, refused to accept the price increase. Because the additional costs should have been passed on to the customers.

Twint shoots back
With over two million users, Twint is the largest mobile payment provider in Switzerland. For Digitec Galaxus, Twint was the third most popular form of payment for customers after credit card and invoice.
–
Twint immediately shot back today. It was not Digitec that ended, but Twint had terminated the contract because the online department store was not ready to pay a fair transmission fee after a cheaper initial phase.
–
“Digitec Galaxus’ allegations are false and misleading,” it continues. Twint is one of the methods of payment with the lowest transaction fees. In addition, Twint does not charge any “hidden costs”. The other claims are pure eyewash too.
–
Twint boss Markus Kilb also emphasized to BLICK: “We consider it unfair that Digitec Galaxus does not want to agree with Twint, the largest Swiss mobile payment method, but apparently accepts the fees for all other payment methods.” It can be assumed that the Digitec Galaxus blog post will have legal consequences.
–
According to Twint, the more than 7,000 other contractual partners have accepted the higher fees – including the Digitec Galaxus parent company Migros, whose cash registers can still be used with the mobile phone payment system.
–
It remains to be seen whether Twint will respond to Digitec Galaxus’ request for a “detoxified Twint”.
