Dieter Penninckx, owner and chairman of KV Mechelen, is in heavy water. Many questions have been raised about how he led the company FNG. But he repeats again that it will not have an impact on KV Mechelen.
In The time Penninckx defends himself. “I have run the company legally and always in the interest of the company and its people,” he says. In the meantime, he stepped down as CEO. “I didn’t see how I would hit a wall with my health. I kept going and let it get too far.”
“I was proud that I only slept a few hours a night. But suddenly I was in the hospital and I was suffering the consequences of all that accumulated fatigue. I have to take a lot of medication and I am only active for a few hours a day.”
But a sale of KV Mechelen is out of the question. “I stepped into KV Mechelen as a supporter and I want to stay in it as a supporter. I have no plans to leave the club. KV Mechelen is structurally healthy and has unique assets and loyal supporters.”
