Diesel price at record high, but heating oil price will fall sharply tomorrow: tank up to more than 500 euros cheaper in one day | Economy

The new maximum price for heating oil (50S) is 1.1046 euros per liter for orders of at least 2,000 liters, the Federal Public Service Economy announced. Now that is still 1.39 euros per litre, a record.

The maximum price for orders of less than 2,000 liters will drop to 1,1352 euros per liter on Saturday. That is also a decrease of more than 28 cents.

Fuel oil has become very expensive since the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The maximum prices have been higher than 1 euro per liter since the beginning of March.

The price drop for fuel oil is remarkable to say the least, because today the maximum price of diesel at the pump rises by more than 20 cents per liter, to 2,286 euros. This is because the price at the pump is the average of the last twenty days, while for heating oil, daily prices are used. A lower diesel price is therefore possible if the price of crude oil continues to fall in the coming days.
