Died in house fire: – Admitted murder of grandmother during play

In May 2018, 94-year-old Mary Gregory died as a result of smoke poisoning from a house fire, in Heysham, Lancashire, England.

Her granddaughter is now in a very heated trial, as he is accused of having burned down her house, writes The Independent.

During a round of “the game of necessity or truth”, the 20-year-old is said to have admitted that he set fire to his grandmother’s house.

The grandson is said to have answered “truth” in the play, and was then asked to tell his darkest secret.

Then, according to several witnesses, he must have said that it was he who set fire to his grandmother’s house, which led to her death.

When Mary’s house burned down in 2018, she was rescued by the fire department and transported to a hospital in Lancaster. She died three days later of smoke poisoning.

During the year, a thorough investigation of the incident, which was considered an accident, had been conducted until a few weeks after Mary’s funeral.

In 2019, the grandson was in a counseling meeting, where he is said to have told that he had a friend who could send him to prison, because of what the friend knew about him.

– He thought he was kidding

Following the grandson’s comment, an investigation was launched against him. In a short time, several friends testified in the case. They are said to have heard the 20-year-old say that he lit the house during a game.

One friend says that they thought it was a joke when he told them about his secret.

– We did not believe him at first, and thought that he was just kidding with us, said one of the witnesses in the trial that is currently underway.

After the grandson was charged with the crime, the police seized his mobile phone, where they found a sensational search history just after his grandmother’s death.

The police found a search in June 2018 for “killer filled with despair”, “I am a killer” and “I am a monster and I will end up in hell”. A month later, a new search was made from the mobile phone, which said “feeling guilty about having gotten a loved one out of their misery”, the court heard.

The grandson denies having committed the murder of his grandmother. It is not known when the ongoing trial will be decided.
