  • “The former Russian Prime Minister Dmitry MedvedevDmitry Medvedev – the third president of Russia, born on September 14, 1965 in Leningrad, now probably attempted suicide,” UNIAN wrote, referring to the Kremlin’s opposition journalistic project FreeDom.

“At the end of July, a security guard found the deputy chairman of the Security Council in his apartment in a drunken state. Medvedev had a gun in his hand and shouted that he wanted to end his life. The guard convinced the third president of Russia to give him the firearm and has put politics to sleep,” the journalists also pointed out.

According to media reports, a cleaner found five obituaries. “I’m tired of being a puppet on strings. I blame Vladimir Putin for my death,” read one of them.

Russian oppositionist Ilya Ponamariov, who fled to Ukraine in 2016, commented that he was not surprised by these claims. “The data I receive from Moscow give me reason to believe that there is a bitter battle going on in the Kremlin about who will succeed Putin. The main rivals are Medvedev and Sergey Kiriyenko (Prime Minister of Moscow in 1998, currently First Deputy of the administration of the Russian president)”, he also said.

According to FreeDom, the ex-prime minister felt that he was losing ground in the struggle for the Kremlin and fell into depression, which was the reason for the suicide attempt.

Journalists also wrote that after the start of Russian aggression against Ukraine (February 24), Medvedev turned into a troll, writing angry posts on social networks.

The media launched the version that the activity of the former prime minister on the Internet is an attempt to get out of political oblivion.

The journalists did not rule out the possibility that the reference points for the publications on the world wide web were handed down to Medvedev from above – that is, from Putin.
