Solopos.com, MADIUN — Cases of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) in the District Madison in 2021 increased when compared to 2020.

The Head of the Disease Prevention and Control Division at the Madiun District Health Office, Anies Djaka Employee, said that DHF cases in Madiun District would increase in 2021. He suspected that the increase in dengue cases was due to high rainfall.

Anies said the total number of dengue cases in 2021 was 117. Of that number, one person died. He compared dengue cases in 2020 to 86 cases. Of that number two people died.

Anies also said that new cases of dengue had appeared in early January. As of Tuesday (4/1/2022), the Madiun Regency Government recorded 8 new cases.

“Because of the large number of cases, we urge the public to mobilize the eradication of mosquito nests” [PSN] in their respective homes,” he said, Tuesday (4/1/2022).

Anies sees the potential for dengue cases to increase during the rainy season. This is because the rainy season also increases the mosquito population.

For that, he called PSN to be one solution to suppress the mosquito population. “The PSN breaks the mosquito cycle. For example, mosquito eggs do not develop. Fogging is meant to kill adult mosquitoes,” he explained.

Regarding the increase in this case, the Madiun Health Office has not determined it as an extraordinary event (KLB) of DHF. He explained that the determination of an area with KLB status needed to meet certain parameters.

For example, comparing the increase in cases from this week to the previous week or this month to the previous month. “For KLB, we analyze the data first,” he said.
