Developers create their own community store for Homey – Image and sound – News

I partly agree with you. I also started Homey with the same principle. Just to try home automation easily. And that has grown in no time with me that I start tapping the limits of Homey. But there are also advanced solutions for Pro users. You don’t necessarily have to work with flows, but you can also use javascript to come up with the most complicated constructions you want. (Home script). I have also been able to make many of my own automated hardware and easily link them to homey (HomeyDuino library for Arduino).

In no time I grew from a domotica-tryer to a domotica-pro user. And is now also against the limits. The main problem is that the RAM is full. Although I don’t notice this at all in terms of stability. But every app is whining, I fear. The solution is of course a Homey pro, with twice as much processing power and memory. But do I want to continue with Homey, the question is …

Because there are other problems, such as the maximum number of zigbee devices. When you hit the 20 devices, Homey will sputter. Especially if you don’t have a router zigbee devices. I am now working on a conbee-deconz-homey solution, but that is also an extra step that I try to avoid as much as possible.

All in all, I am quite happy with Homey. I think it is a great way to start with home automation, and is more than enough for the average user. The advanced user can also use it reasonably well, sometimes with extra apps or scripts, but nothing is impossible in itself. The real advanced user could even program his own app for it. In any case, I would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to start with home automation.

By the way, if you switch to something like Home assistant later … you don’t have to leave Homey out. You can also use it perfectly as a “sensor” / “device”. Homey also supports the universal MQTT via an app, so that you can externally read and control all sensors and devices with, for example, Node-red.
