Ahmedabad. After storm and unseasonal rain in Gujarat on Sunday, about fourteen people died due to lightning in many areas and crops were damaged. The officers provided this information. The State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC) said that at least 40 animals have also died due to the rains.

According to data compiled by SEOC, 220 of Gujarat’s 251 talukas received up to 50 mm of rainfall within 10 hours from 6 am on Sunday, disrupting normal life and causing damage to crops. Ahmedabad city received 15 mm of rain in two hours in the morning. The city received heavy rain in the evening, due to which people remained indoors during the weekend. It rained and hailstormed in Rajkot, where locals were seen enjoying the unseasonal rain.

Officials said that apart from the damage to crops due to rain, the ceramic industry was also affected due to the closure of factories in Morbi district of Saurashtra region. An SEOC official said, “Three deaths were recorded in Dahod district, two in Bharuch and one each in Amreli, Surendranagar, Mehsana, Botad, Panchmahal, Kheda, Sabarkantha, Surat and Ahmedabad. It is being told that all the deaths have occurred due to lightning.” He said that more data is being collected and the death toll may increase.

It was a cold morning in Gujarat on Sunday after unseasonal rain and hailstorm in many parts of the state. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), there is a possibility of rain and hailstorm in Gujarat on November 27 also. According to IMD, “Unseasonal rain has started in entire Gujarat including Ahmedabad on Sunday. “Winds blew from the north-east at a speed of 5 kilometers per hour amidst heavy clouds.”

Manorama Mohanty, director of IMD’s meteorological center in Ahmedabad, said heavy rains are expected during the day in Valsad, Navsari, Surat, Dangs and Tapi districts of south Gujarat as well as Bhavnagar, Botad and Amreli districts of Saurashtra region. . He told reporters, “There is a forecast of rain only on Sunday. “It will subside by November 27 and will be concentrated in some parts of South Gujarat and Saurashtra districts.”
