“Deurne Airport’s future in jeopardy as TUI flights threatened by runway use limitations”

Piet De Roeck (Action group Vliegerplein): “If the runway can no longer be fully used, TUI’s Embraer aircraft will no longer be able to land and take off in Deurne. If they disappear, there will be virtually no more commercial flights to and from Deurne, so profitability is coming under even more pressure and the airport’s raison d’être seems to be disappearing.”

The case will be initiated on June 20, but a ruling should not be expected immediately. The airport will soon also have to apply for a new environmental permit. According to observers, it is not inconceivable that this file will also include a request for regularization of the violations, although according to the action groups this is by no means self-evident.
