Despite his apology, an old tweet from the former Twitter owner is causing a storm

An old tweet from Twitter founder and former CEO Jack Dorsey has reappeared, sparking controversy among activists, after the latter yesterday posted a tweet apologizing to the platform’s employees, especially after the new owner’s decision. Elon Musk lay off many of them.

The controversy began on Saturday when Dorsey posted a tweet apologizing to Twitter employees for the mess, saying he understood those who might be mad at him over the sale of Mask, according to a Newsweek report.

Dorsey tweeted that he takes responsibility for why everyone, referring to the staff, is in this situation.

In response, several Twitter users, including politician Chris D. Jackson, shared statements made by Dorsey last April that Musk was “the only solution I trust”.

“It’s not about your business practices. That’s what I said, Elon is the only solution I can trust,” Jackson wrote in response to Dorsey. “Are billionaires really infatuated with each other?”

“Free garden for all”

Interestingly, Musk first proposed buying the social networking site earlier this year, expressing concern about the company’s moderation policies and its commitment to freedom of expression.

Tesla’s CEO initially tried to buy a stake in the company, but its board of directors tried to prevent it.

Additionally, Musk then offered to buy the company outright for $ 44 billion, far more than most analysts think the company is worth.

He then apparently tried to get out of the deal, citing the number of fake bots or Twitter accounts, but eventually a lawsuit from the company’s stakeholders forced him to go through with the deal.

The billionaire recently posted a message on his account that appeared to be an attempt to ease concerns about his control of the company, saying he didn’t want the platform to become “a free arena for all.”

Since buying Twitter, Musk has made several widely criticized decisions such as firing several major CEOs, announcing mass layoffs, announcing plans to charge fees per blue tick, and amplifying right-wing conspiracy theories.
