The other day, a rumor spread that the designer Alessandro Michele, who worked at the company for twenty years, six of which as creative director, has left the Gucci fashion house.
And now the Gucci brand and its parent company Kering have officially confirmed that the designer has left them. Gucci chairman and CEO Marco Bizzarri thanked the designer for his long-standing partnership, as well as “for his vision, dedication and unconditional love for this unique house.”
“There are times when the roads diverge due to the different points of view that each of us may have. Today is the end of an extraordinary journey for me that lasted more than twenty years, within a company to which I have tirelessly devoted all my love and creative passion,” the fashion publication quotes 49-year-old Michele wwd.
“During this long period, Gucci has been my home, my adoptive family. To this big family, to all the people who have taken care of and supported her, I express my sincerest gratitude, the biggest and most sincere hugs. Together with them I have desired, dreamed, imagined. Without them, nothing I built would have been possible. My most sincere wish to them: continue to cultivate your dreams, subtle and impalpable matter, for which it is worth living. Continue to feed on poetic and inclusive images while remaining true to your values. Always live your passions, pushed by the wind of freedom.”

Earlier, the same publication reported that Alessandro was “asked to initiate a drastic design shift” to give the brand a fresh boost, but the designer didn’t accede to this request. There are also rumors that the head of Kering, François-Henri Pinault, is looking for updates for the famous maison.
