Densus 88 arrested 15 suspected terrorists in Bekasi and Jakarta

Special Datasemen 88 Anti-terror Team (Densus 88) Police Headquarters arrested 15 suspects suspected of being a group terrorist the Jamaah Ansharut Daulah network (JAD) and the East Indonesia Mujahideen (MIT).

Head of Public Information Bureau (Karo Penmas), Police Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Pol. Awi Setiyono said that the arrests were made in DKI Jakarta and West Java on Wednesday (12/8).

“On August 12, 15 suspects of the JAD group terrorism crimes were enforced, logistics and funding transfers from the MIT group, as well as facilitators for departing to Syria in the DKI and West Java areas,” Awi said at a conference at the Bareskrim Building, Friday (14/8 ).


Awi said that the arrests of the 15 suspects were carried out at different places and times in one day. However, most, or 11 of them, were arrested in the Bekasi area, West Java.

Awi said, of the 15 suspects, 12 of them were a network of the JAD Koswara group, which allegedly had several roles, such as logistics delivery, funding, and facilitators to Syria. Koswara himself is a former marijuana courier who is now a convicted terrorist, after being convicted by the West Jakarta District Court in 2016.

Those who were arrested each with the initials KIA alias Abu Hanifah alias Jack (33), AR alias Abu Fauzan (54), MF (21), S (30), M (45), ML (27), RN (22). Then, OI (47), AA (24), H (44), MR (23), and AH (54)

“The involvement is concerned, the first is the emir of JAD. The second is to hold an i’dad and study at Ciwadon cave, Jonggol, Bogor Regency on August 17-18, 2019,” said Awi explaining the involvement of KIA alias Abu Hanifah.

Furthermore, said Awi, two of them were involved in logistics shipping and MIT funding. They are, RFTP (24) and SR (35). Then the remaining one with the initials AR (42), became a facilitator to Syria.

Awi explained that AR was arrested on Wednesday (12/8) in a housing complex in Bekasi City. He was involved in the process of leaving for Syria in 2015, and I’dad with the JAD group in the Thousand Islands, Jakarta on June 14, 2019.

The 15 suspects, said Awi, were subject to article 15 in conjunction with article 7, and article 13 letter c, Republic of Indonesia Law number 5 of 2018 concerning Amendments to Law number 15/2003 concerning Stipulation of Government Regulation in Lieu of Law Number 1 of 2002 concerning the Eradication of Terrorism with the threat of imprisonment longest lifetime.
