Dennis Wise Collaborates with PSSI for Indonesian U17 National Team Selection

KOMPAS.com – PSSI teamed up with Chelsea legend and Garuda Select Director of Football, Dennis Wise, in the selection process for the Indonesian U17 national team.

Member of the PSSI Executive Committee (Exco), Arya Sinulingga, said that the selection for the Indonesian U17 national team will begin on Wednesday (5/7/2023).

“On 5-7 there will be a selection. It’s a collaboration with Garuda Select. Mas Bima Sakti (coach of the Indonesian U17 national team) with Dennis Wise,” said Arya Sinulingga, Tuesday (4/7/2023).

“That’s selection and choosing players for U17. There are also from previous players (Iqbal Gwijangge et al),” said Arya continued.

“Then the third time we will hold selections in 9 to 10 regions in Indonesia in the near future,” he said again.

After that, PSSI will hold a TC in the second week of July. The TC is also one of the selection stages to form the Indonesian U17 national team.

“All those who have been selected will be joined in the TC. All of them will be selected later, the selection will go on, and then we will choose,” said Arya.

“Besides that, we are also looking for players with Indonesian passports, diaspora, and if he is good, we will take him,” he said.

“If someone sends a video, we accept it. Then, later, even if there are Indonesian parents but not Indonesian passports, that’s our way of getting Indonesian passports,” said Arya.

Furthermore, Arya explained that Bima Sakti also coordinated with Shin Tae-yong and Indra Sjafri in the process of selecting U17 players.

“Shin Tae-yong and Indra Sjafri, we asked Bima to coordinate with them. All trainers must support them,” he said.

The selection for the Indonesian U17 national team was carried out ahead of the 2023 U17 World Cup which is scheduled to take place in Indonesia on 10 November-2 December 2023.
