Denis Brogniart’s Bike Journey from Paris to Dijon for Écrans de l’Aventure Festival

On the occasion of the Écrans de l’Aventure festival, television host Denis Brogniart got on his bike from Paris to reach Dijon, his “city of heart”. This year, he is the president of the adventure film jury.

The host arrived discreetly at Place Darcy on Tuesday afternoon, on his bike, at the end of his journey from Paris: “I said to myself that it was good for me too, to have my ‘little adventure’ alone between Paris and the city of my birth. It’s especially the city where my parents met, they were students here: my mother a student in mathematics, my father in law.”

The facilitator made the journey over 3 days, a return to basics, and also a small break in a busy life family and professional: “It’s quite a symbolic side on the whole last part, on the Burgundy canal between Montbard and here, it brought back lots of memories for me. Burgundy is really my native region and my heart region.”

Is this also an adventure? The host wants to put things into perspective, his bike ride is not comparable to the stories of the adventurers who will be presented during the festival. “We must not overuse the terms: adventurer with a capital “A” means something and doing Paris-Dijon has nothing to do with it! You know, I have a rich family life with lots of children , a rich professional life and the moments where I can be alone are rare. And there, for three days, I ate alone, I cycled alone every day and I did 380 km in total. And I enjoyed a wonderful time.”

The host, as president of the Jury for the Golden Fleece of the adventure film, expects stories “extraordinary” from the adventurers he will meet at the festival:“I am always fascinated by adventurers who are often ordinary men and women, capable of transcending themselves to live extraordinary experiences: from a physical point of view, from an ecological point of view, from a of surpassing oneself, psychological. I therefore expect to see people who are very different from each other, but who all have inside their hearts, stomachs and heads, a little extra soul which allows them to share what they do and make it live vicariously to all those who come to see their adventures.”
