Epidemiological surveillance data for dengue in the first two weeks of January 2020 show that the virus is still active in Martinique. Our island remains in epidemic risk. “The individual and collective actions to fight against mosquitoes must be continued and reinforced”, indicates the regional unit of Public Health France, in its bulletin of this Friday January 17.

68% of the municipalities are affected and register biologically confirmed cases. After a period of relative stability due to the holiday season, the trend is increasing.

During the first two weeks of January 2020, the estimated number of clinically suggestive cases of dengue seen in town medicine increased with 115 and 140 cases estimated respectively. These values ​​are always above the seasonal thresholds but remain below those observed in early December 2019.
Since the beginning of July 2019, the total number of clinically suggestive cases of dengue is estimated at around 1600.
