Dengue Fever Takes Toddler, in 100 Houses in Jember Immediately Fogging

SURYA.CO.ID, JEMBER – A total of 100 houses in Jember immediately received fogging or fogging in anticipation of the development of dengue fever mosquitoes. Fogging This was carried out by officers of the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) in Jember following a case of death of a toddler due to dengue fever in the area.

Wednesday (9/6/2021), fogging was carried out in RT01 and 02, RW06, Krajan Hamlet, Tanggul Kulon Village, Tanggul District. The resident who died was from Jatiroto District, Lumajang Regency, after several days of spending the night in Tanggul Kulon Village.

The Tanggul Kulon Village Government (Pemdes) asks for help PMI Jember to do fumigation in those 100 houses.

According to the head of Tanggul Kulon Village, Arifin Wahyuono, the toddler who died was not a local resident, but a Lumajang resident. “But before he died, the toddler spent the night in Tanggul Kulon Village for several days. So we took anticipatory measures to break the chain of dengue fever spread,” said Arifin, Wednesday (9/6/2021).

In addition to fumigation, the Tanggul Kulon Village Government also asked its residents to carry out Mosquito Nest Eradication (PSN) by paying attention to cleanliness in the environment.

PSN is a form of preventing the occurrence of dengue fever as well as anticipating the spread of COVID-19 which is still endemic.

Head of the Jember Headquarters Unit, Rupianto said the fumigation was carried out up to 100 meters from the house visited by the toddler. After the observations, it is known the need for fumigation of 100 houses in the neighborhood.

Rupianto emphasized the importance of the community implementing a Clean and Healthy Lifestyle (PHBS) to prevent dengue fever, such as increasing the PSN movement.

“We also continue to apply 3M (wearing masks, washing hands with soap, and maintaining distance), because currently the Covid-19 pandemic is still going on. Besides, we must continue to increase the PSN movement to fight dengue fever mosquitoes,” he said ****
