Demonstration ‘Justice for Bas’ moved to Museumplein | Inland

The 24-year-old Bas from Badhoevedorp was shot dead on Saturday at the busy recreational lake Oeverlanden in Amsterdam. According to the family, Van Wijk was shot when he wanted to prevent a watch from his friend from being stolen.

Van Wijk’s death sparked outrage. YouTubekanaal MoetJeHorenTV is the initiator of the demonstration, and carries the slogan “every life counts, stop the violence”. “We are going to make something beautiful out of it,” the channel writes on Twitter. The organizers also emphasize that they want to demonstrate in a video against senseless violence, and that they have no political intentions. “All lives matter. If you’re one of the farthest to say it’s only about black lives, it’s only about white lives, please stay away. It concerns all lives and we are in the middle, ”said the organizers.

Thierry Baudet and Geert Wilders, among others, have tweeted about the case. Earlier, Van Wijk’s family indicated that the silent march that will be held on Friday evening has no political character. “People who still want to make a statement can go to the demonstration on Sunday. The organizers of the silent march are completely separate from the demonstration. ”
