Demon’s Souls looks beautiful on the PS5, but some criticize the changes in aesthetics. Graphics analysis

Demon’s Souls is one of the most lauded games – also visually – available on PlayStation 5. So let’s take a look at the graphics in the remake.

This time Digital Foundry took a closer look at Demon’s Souls on PS5. You can find the analysis video below.

The first thing that catches your eye right away is change of aesthetics in many locationswhich already raises some controversy. Parts of fans of the classic Demon’s Souls edition do not like the application changes in color and mood explored locations. This is a highly subjective thing, but worth paying attention to. You can already find, among others on Metacritic some voices from players that the aesthetics on PS5 are worse than in the original release.

Digital Foundry raves about many aspects of the graphics in the Demon’s Souls remake. The game has simulated wind gusts, much better fire effects, specific fog and, above all, much richer geometry of objects and better textures.

There are two render modes in Demon’s Souls on PS5. The game works in Performance mode w 60 fpswhich turns out almost perfectly stable (details in the 14th minute of the recording). However, in the “cinema” module the title offers a bit better image detail, at the expense of the framerate (here we were offered stable 30 fps).

Perhaps the most impressive difference is the huge improvement in load times. After the player dies loading takes place in just 3 seconds. In the past, on PS3, this process took almost half a minute.
